JACKSON TWP. - Firefighters doused a blaze in the basement of a physicians office on Everhard Road Tuesday about 7:30 a.m.
Fire Chief Tracy Hogue said this is what happened:
Firefighters received a call just after 7:20 a.m. When they arrived, they found a fire in the basement break room of Children’s Physicians Inc.
The business suffered significant smoke and water damage. But other businesses in the Summa Professional Building were not heavily damaged, he said.
The building, despite its name, has no affiliation with Summa Health Systems, an official with the Akron-based health network said.
Firefighters Tuesday morning were still investigating what caused the fire, Hogue said.
An employee of Children’s Physicians burned her finger during the incident, he said.
