Hear Cleveland Orchestra at Blossom

Tonight’s Blossom program was set months ago, but takes on added poignance as the Cleveland Orchestra presents George Gershwin’s An American in Paris at 7 p.m. The evening will also include Maurice Ravel’s Rapsodie espagnole and Piano Concerto in G, and Aaron Copland’s Suite from Appalachian Spring (you might know it as Simple Gifts). The evening also commemorates the 100th anniversary of the National Park System. Tickets are $30-$99 at 216-231-1111 or www.clevelandorchestra.com.

CSU to host free Keep the Promise concert

The Wolstein Center at Cleveland State University will host the free Keep the Promise concert, organized by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation. It will feature speakers Dr. Cornell West, the Rev. Al Sharpton, and actress and White House Ambassador for Citizenship and Naturalization Diane Guerrero. The music will be provided by the Roots backing one of the stars of Empire, Jussie Smollett, Grammy-winning contemporary gospel duo and reality TV stars Mary Mary, and R&B crooner/songwriter/producer Raheem DeVaughn. Tickets are free and the doors open at 4 p.m. The show is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Go to usakeepthepromise.org for more information.
