Summit County jobless rate rises in November

Summit County’s unemployment rate rose in November but stayed below levels from a year ago.

The county jobless rate last month was 4.6 percent, up from 4.2 percent in October and down from 5 percent in November 2014.

Akron’s unemployment rate rose to 5.3 percent from 4.9 percent in October. The city’s rate a year ago was 5.7 percent.

The jobless rate in Cuyahoga Falls went to 4.1 percent in November from 3.9 percent in October. The rate was down from 4.5 percent a year ago.

Rates were not adjusted to take into account seasonal factors.

Unemployment rates rose in 81 of Ohio’s 88 counties. The rates ranged from a low of 3 percent in Geauga and Medina counties to a high of 9.7 percent in Monroe County.

The comparable unemployment rate in Ohio was 4.4 percent, up from 4.2 percent in October and down from 4.9 percent a year ago. The state’s seasonally adjusted rate was 4.5 percent, up from 4.4 percent in October and down from 5.2 percent in November 2014.

The comparable unadjusted U.S. rate was 4.8 percent, the same as in October and down from 5.5 percent a year ago.

Rates elsewhere in Northeast Ohio for November, October and a year ago:

• Cuyahoga County: 3.9, 4.4 and 5.6

• Cleveland: 4.9, 5.6 and 7.1

• Medina County: 3, 3.3, and 4.4

• Portage County: 4.6, 4.2, and 4.9

• Stark County: 5.1, 4.6, and 4.9

• Canton: 5.7, 5.3 and 5.8

• Wayne County: 3.7, 3.4 and 3.9
