A Browns source confirmed Tuesday the franchise has no interest in trading former All-Pro wide receiver Josh Gordon.
ESPN reported multiple teams have reached out to the Browns to inquire about the availability of Gordon, only to be told the organization isn't looking to deal him.
Gordon has been suspended for 27 of the past 32 games because of recurring violations of the NFL's substance-abuse policy, and he'll serve a four-game suspension to begin the 2016 regular season after being reinstated by Commissioner Roger Goodell on July 25.
Yet the Browns' new regime believes it has the proper support system in place to help Gordon stay on the right path. Part of the belief stems from the presence of his friends in the locker room, including starting quarterback and former Baylor University teammate Robert Griffin III, cornerback Joe Haden, rookie wide receiver Corey Coleman and wide receiver Terrelle Pryor.
Gordon is on track to make his 2016 preseason debut Friday when the Browns face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beginning at 8 p.m. at Raymond James Stadium. He sat out the early stages of training camp with a quadriceps injury but returned to practice last week.
