Members of the Akron Chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAF-Akron) made a lasting impression with their creative work when they won at the American Advertising Awards, formerly “The ADDYs."

Geometry Global and Morgan Ricciardi of The University of Akron took home national Silver ADDYs for outstanding creative work. Geometry Global won in the Black and White, Single category, while Ricciardi won in the Point of Purchase category.

The national competition is the third and final tier of the American Advertising Awards. In order to be entered into this final level, entries must win first at the local level. The work is then forwarded on to the district level, and if the entry wins a District ADDY, it proceeds to the national stage. With more than 40,000 entries at the local level each year, making it to the national competition is an accomplishment in itself.

“The advertising community in the greater Akron area is full of talent,” said Steve Govern, President of AAF-Akron. “We know that the work we see at our local competition has the potential to win at a national level, and it’s always thrilling to see individuals and companies from this area receiving recognition that’s well deserved for their excellence in advertising.”

AAF-Akron won a grand total of eight District ADDYs in 2016, three gold awards, which included the submissions from Geometry Global and Ricciardi, and five silver awards. The certificates for the district awards will be distributed at AAF-Akron’s first installment of its Professional Development Series, a luncheon event that will be held Thursday, Sept. 15 at the Tangier in downtown Akron.
