The national Storm Prediction Center says the Akron area faces a slight risk for severe storms Saturday afternoon.

The National Weather Service says a “strong cold front” will make its way across Northeast Ohio, sparking potentially severe storms across a wide swath of the state from Mansfield through Akron through Cleveland.

The severe weather is expected after 4 p.m. into Saturday evening.

Forecasters say the greatest threat would be damaging winds and heavy rain with possible flooding.

Nearly an inch of rain could fall on areas where the storms persist.

The high on Saturday will be near 90.

The forecast for Sunday is sunny skies with a high in the mid-70s.

Temperatures are expected to climb back into the 80s to start off the week before cooling back to the 70s by Wednesday.
