U.S. Marshals on Tuesday afternoon arrested a man who that morning allegedly broke into a former romantic partner’s home while she showered and kidnapped their son.

Todd Allen, 24, was arrested and charged with interference of custody, burglary and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He also was wanted by the Summit County Sheriff’s Office on charges of aggravated burglary and domestic violence; Fairlawn police on charges of theft, forgery and obstructing official business; and University of Akron police on charges of theft.

In Tuesday’s case, Allen also is accused of stealing his son’s mother’s car to flee.

The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force in Akron reported they located the stolen vehicle at Woodspring Suites on Fortuna Road. They discovered his room number and arrested him there. The child was recovered safely.

“Our Task Force acted swiftly to bring the child safely home to his mother and bring this dangerous criminal to justice,” U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said. “Because of the quick actions of our Task Force, this child will sleep comfortably in his bed tonight.”
