PORTLAND, ORE.: Kyrie Irving will not play Saturday night when the Cavaliers travel to the Portland Trail Blazers. Irving isn’t injured, he just isn’t playing on both nights of back-to-backs yet.
Irving has struggled to find a rhythm since returning from knee surgery. He is averaging 10 points through three games, but shooting just 29 percent (22 percent on 3-pointers). He shot 4 of 15 in Friday’s loss to the Golden State Warriors and missed all six of his 3-point attempts.
The Cavs have another back-to-back Monday and Tuesday when they conclude this road trip with games at the Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets.
Blazers point guard Damian Lillard will also miss his third straight game with a foot injury, the team announced.
