All signs continue to point to quarterback Josh McCown starting Sunday for the Browns (0-7) when they host the New York Jets (2-5).
Rookie quarterback Cody Kessler isn't practicing Thursday and remains in the NFL's concussion protocol. He suffered a concussion in Sunday's 31-17 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
McCown has missed the past five games after suffering a fractured left collarbone Sept. 18 in a 25-20 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. But coach Hue Jackson said Wednesday McCown has been medically cleared to face the Jets on Sunday. McCown fully participated in practice Wednesday. He's on the field again Thursday preparing to start.
Jackson is scheduled to speak again after practice at about 1:35 p.m. Thursday.
